Enjoy beautiful, cavity-free teeth with Cosmetic Dental Fillings

Did you know that dental cavities are one of the most common oral diseases worldwide? Even with diligent oral care, cavities can still find their way into your teeth. Luckily, you can prevent cavities from growing deeper by considering cosmetic dental fillings from Esquire Dental Centres in Scarborough, Ontario.

Cosmetic Dental Filling in Scarborough Ontario Area

Which cosmetic dental fillings do we use?

If you have cavities, your teeth can be filled with silver-coloured (amalgam) or gold fillings. However, we opt for white (composite) fillings at our dental office because the colour of the composite resin material resembles your natural teeth. Unlike unsightly metal fillings that are conspicuous when you open your mouth, composite fillings are virtually invisible.

Other reasons we opt for tooth-coloured fillings include:

  • Esthetics: Composite fillings are mercury-free, and esthetically pleasing because they match your existing teeth.
  • Conservative: When placing composite fillings, we preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible to cover up the cavity.
  • Durability: White fillings should last for more than 10 years if you take proper care of your teeth.

What should I expect from the procedure?

With composite fillings, you only need one appointment to enjoy a cavity-free smile. During your appointment, your dentist numbs your gums and removes the decayed part of the affected tooth. Next, your tooth is cleaned, and the composite resin material is applied layer by layer. Since the composite material is moldable, your dentist shapes it to blend with your tooth, then uses a special curing light to cement it in place. Finally, the filling is recontoured and polished to give off a shiny look. And just like that, you can now show off your beautiful, healthy smile.

How long do cavity fillings last?

Composite fillings can last for more than 10 years without needing a replacement. All you need to do is observe diligent oral care. Brush twice a day, floss daily, and visit a dentist every six months, and your fillings will serve you for many years.
