M1P 2S1 area dentist explains the advantages of placing dental implants

Dr. Amir Awadalla at Esquire Dental Center, Providing m1p 2s1 dentist

When a dentist in the M1P 2S1 area has a patient who is dealing with the loss of a natural tooth, he or she may suggest the placement of a dental implant.

Dental implants are designed to replace missing teeth. They are made of titanium and are surgically implanted into the bone of the jaw. They can be used to stabilize full dentures or they may be restored with a dental crown to replace a single missing tooth. These restorations are often recommended for patients with healthy bone because they provide several advantages.

Dental implant restorations look, and feel, like natural teeth. Unlike bridges, they do not require patients to sacrifice the structure and health of adjacent teeth. No enamel from these surrounding teeth needs to be removed for this stand-alone restoration to be placed. Additionally, dental implants preserve natural bone. Over time bone integrates around the implant by a process called osseointegration, which is important for keeping the implant and in place. Bone deterioration occurs when teeth are missing over time and can contribute to an aging face.

Additionally, dental implants are strong, more aesthetic, and easier to keep clean than alternatives. Although more costly at the initial placement, implants can provide a long-term solution to a permanent problem and tend to last longer than other dental restorations.

During the initial appointment, the implant is placed into the jawbone, but several months may be necessary to allow the bone to heal around the implant which anchors it in place. A temporary tooth replacement may be used during this time. Then, during the a future visit when the implant is ready patients will have a custom dental crown made to fit the implant.

The dentists at Esquire Dental Centres provide new and existing patients with dental implants along with other solutions for tooth loss and restoration. Patients in and around the M1P 2S1 area can contact this family-owned dental facility at any of our three locations to learn more about whether or not dental implants are the most desirable solution to their concerns.
