Knowledgeable providers will discuss your goals for treatment, and can help you reach those goals and maintain beautiful results and optimal function. Partnering with experienced dental practices also minimises the risk of undesirable side effects and complications.

The Esquire Dental Centres team starts its partnership with you by determining if Invisalign® is in your best interests. For example, porcelain veneers may be recommended should you require the most modest repositioning to treat slight spacing irregularities. If the dentists determine orthodontics are a sound approach to improve your smile and function, Invisalign® offers a modern alternative to conventional braces. These removable aligner trays can correct a wide range of alignment-related problems and issues with how the upper and lower teeth come together.

Alignment-Related Issues

Some cases of crowding and uneven spacing may be treated with Invisalign® Express. It works like its non-Express counterpart, in that a series of aligner trays are customised to comfortably and snugly fit your mouth. Made from a smooth and nearly transparent BPA-free plastic, these trays incrementally reposition teeth for gradually straighter teeth. These “invisible braces” must be worn as recommended by the dentists. They may be removed for eating and cleaning and for no longer than four hours each day. Every two weeks or so you will switch out the tray and wear the next corresponding aligner.

You may be a candidate for the express route should you suffer from, for instance, early-onset orthodontic relapse. Teeth can shift out of place following orthodontic treatment when you fail to wear a retainer as recommended by your professional dental partner.

Generally, Invisalign® patients will wear at least five sets of aligner trays and can achieve desired results in as little as three months. On average, Invisalign® wearers have attained the smile of their dreams in about a year.

Bite-Related Concerns

When you close your mouth, it’s normal for the upper teeth to overlap the lower ones slightly. How your upper and lower teeth come together when the mouth is closed is known as bite. If the upper teeth overlap significantly, you may have an overbite. Likewise, if your lower teeth jut out beyond the upper ones, you may have an underbite. Invisalign® can correct these and other bite-related problems, which can put the health of your teeth and gums at risk of decay and disease. Alignment and bite problems make it difficult to brush and floss in between and around teeth. Oral health suffers when oral hygiene suffers. Any imbalances can place excess wear on teeth and produce disruptive or debilitating facial and jaw pain.

As versatile as Invisalign® may seem, it isn’t for everyone. For younger children or those with more significant needs, traditional braces may be recommended. Today’s braces are less noticeable and more comfortable than the metal brackets and wires you may remember from childhood, thanks to components such as clear wires and tooth-coloured brackets.
